Research
Most of my current research in philosophy of science and metaphysics of science centres on three interconnected fields: causation (and its cognates), laws of nature and composition. I am also interested in the ontology of engineering and the nature of scientific enquiry as it compares to technology. Questions which keep me up at night include,
Is mechanistic constitution just a causal relation?
Are laws of nature fundamental?
Could some determinables be more fundamental than their determinates?
Should we be realist about the elements of Finite Element Analysis?
What causal assumptions underly Fault Tree Analysis?
Are scientific theories a technology?
